There is a lot of fore shadowing in the short story the lottery. The biggest version of it is when the kids are bringing up the rocks to kill a young woman who was late to the event. Before she was killed by the stones she said "This is not fair, This is not fair". Her friend picked up the biggest rock she could find so she could end her suffering quick and painlessly.

Good, but were the kids at the beginning bringing the rocks to kill Tessie because she was late? Or was it a different reason?
